Georgia and Armenia eSIM: Internet for a Two-Country Trip
You spend a week in Tbilisi, then head south to Yerevan. Somewhere past the border your Georgian plan stops working, and your hotel address and map are still on your phone. That gap is the real problem on a trip through the country of Georgia and Armenia, and it is easy to plan around.
The simplest setup is two data eSIMs, one per country, both installed at home before you fly. Each plan counts its days from the first connection in its own country, so the Armenia plan waits while you are in Georgia. For a day or two in each country, a US carrier day pass may be enough. If you stay mostly in Georgia and visit Armenia briefly, a Magti SIM with a roaming pack can also work.
In short:
- Moosetrip sells a separate plan for each country: Georgia from $4.50 and Armenia from $5.50 for 1 GB over 7 days, on 2026-10-30.
- Two eSIMs can run at once on iPhone 13 and later, and on Pixel 7 and later if the carrier allows it. Only one line carries data at a time.
- Magti's Roamer pack gives 1,000 MB over 7 days in Armenia for 9 lari, about $3.50.
- Verizon and AT&T list daily passes at $12 for one line, so 10 days of use is $120.
Your options compared
Dollar amounts for lari and dram are rough, at about 2.6 lari and 360 dram to the dollar on October 30, 2026. The sample trip is 10 days: 6 in Georgia and 4 in Armenia.
| Option | Sample cost | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two Moosetrip eSIMs | $21.50 for 3 GB in each country | Trips of 4 days or more | Data only, phone must be unlocked |
| US carrier daily pass | $120 for one line used every day | A day or two | Confirm both countries with your carrier |
| Two local SIMs | About $18, plus any Viva SIM cost | Heavy data, local numbers | Passport, shop visits, SIM tray or local eSIM |
| Magti SIM with Roamer | About $15 | Mostly Georgia, short Armenia stop | Ask if Roamer works on your Magti plan |
Two eSIMs set up at home
Both plans install over Wi-Fi with a QR code before you leave. Your US number stays on the phone as a second line. Your days start at the first connection in each country, and you can add more data to the same eSIM.
Moosetrip prices below are from our catalog on October 30, 2026.
| Data | Valid for | Georgia | Armenia |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 days | $4.50 | $5.50 |
| 3 GB | 30 days | $10 | $11.50 |
| 5 GB | 30 days | $14 | $17.50 |
| 10 GB | 30 days | $26 | $30.50 |
| 20 GB | 30 days | $47.50 | $59 |
Each plan works in its own country only. Our Georgia plan lists Magti among its networks, and our Armenia plan runs on Vivacell, the network now branded Viva.
Are you going from Tbilisi to Yerevan and back to Tbilisi? Pick a 30-day Georgia plan. The clock keeps running once it starts, so a 7-day plan could run out before you return.
Before you buy, check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked. If you still owe your carrier for the phone, it may be locked.
Roaming with your US carrier
Roaming needs no setup, and your normal number works as usual. Verizon lists TravelPass at $12 per day, per line, outside Mexico and Canada. AT&T lists International Day Pass at $12 per day for one line, plus $6 for each extra line used that day. Confirm Georgia and Armenia, and your rate, in your carrier app before you fly.
Three days costs $36, which is fine for a short hop. Ten days costs $120, against $21.50 for the eSIM pair. That comparison is not exact, because a daily pass includes calls and texts and our eSIMs are data only.
Some US plans include travel data. If yours covers both countries with enough high-speed data, keep it and skip the eSIMs.
Local SIMs in each country
Local SIMs are the cheapest route if you use a lot of data and don't mind a shop visit. They only help if your phone can take them. Many newer iPhones have no SIM tray, so a plastic SIM will not fit. Your phone must also be unlocked. Bring your passport to both counters.
Georgia: Magti tourist offers
Magti sells tourist offers at Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports. These were on its site on October 30, 2026.
| Offer | Data | Calls | Valid for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tourist SIM with free SIM card | 3,000 MB | 30 international minutes, free local calls | 15 days | 30 lari ($11.50) |
| Tourist offer | 5,000 MB | No minutes listed | 15 days | 15 lari ($5.80) |
The 5 GB offer beats our $14 plan on price. Ask at the counter whether the SIM card is included in that price before you pay.
Armenia: Viva Tourist Unlim
Viva's Tourist Unlim plan costs 2,500 dram (about $7) for 15 days. It includes unlimited internet, 300 minutes and 300 texts. You can only get it at a Viva service center, and the page doesn't list a SIM price, so ask first.
Two details matter. The package renews by itself if your balance covers it, so don't leave extra money on the line. It also doesn't cover roaming, so it won't help you in Georgia.
One SIM across both countries
A Magti SIM in Armenia
If you will spend nearly all your time in Georgia, a Magti line can cover a quick Yerevan trip. Magti's Roamer list covered all three Armenian networks when checked on September 28, 2026: Ucom, Telecom Armenia and Viva.
| Roamer pack | Valid for | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 500 MB | 1 day | 5 lari ($1.90) |
| 1,000 MB | 7 days | 9 lari ($3.50) |
| 2,000 MB | 14 days | 15 lari ($5.80) |
| 4,000 MB | 14 days | 25 lari ($9.60) |
| 10,000 MB | 30 days | 55 lari ($21) |
Do these steps before you leave Georgia:
- Turn on roaming with *133#. You can't turn it on for data alone, so it enables internet, calls and texts together.
- Add a pack with *137#. It won't activate unless roaming is on.
- Keep a positive balance. Without one, Magti restricts your calls in roaming.
Incoming calls are billed while you roam, so use an internet call for long chats. Ask at the counter if Roamer works on your tourist offer before you count on it.
An Armenian SIM in Georgia
The other direction is thinner. Team, the Telecom Armenia brand, has a 1 GB pack for Georgia at 500 dram (about $1.40). It lasts 3 days. Activate it with *515# and check what's left with *225#.
It doesn't renew by itself, so a week means three packs, or about $4.20. When it ends, data is billed at your normal roaming rate.
Running two eSIMs on one phone
Your phone can store more eSIMs than it can run. Apple says an iPhone can hold eight or more, and two can be active at the same time. If your US line is one of them, you may have three in total. So turn one off at the border.
iPhone. Dual eSIM works on iPhone 13 and later. An iPhone can't use two cellular networks for data at the same time.
- Name your lines, for example Georgia and Armenia, under Settings, Cellular, your plan, Cellular Plan Label.
- Pick the data line in Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data.
- Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching. With it on, the phone can move data to your US line, and that is roaming.
Pixel. Google says Pixel 7 and later can run two eSIMs at once if the carrier allows it. Mobile data goes through one SIM by default. Pick it in Settings, Network and internet, SIMs. Other Android phones use different menu names.
In Georgia, keep your US line and the Georgia eSIM on. At the border, turn off the Georgia line, turn on the Armenia line, and choose it for data. Turn on data roaming for the Armenia eSIM and leave it off for your US line. Keep the Georgia eSIM on the phone if you are coming back. Your US number can still get texts as a second line, and our guide on keeping your US number abroad covers bank codes.
Crossing from Tbilisi to Yerevan
Magti warns that roaming starts when you cross the border, and that near it your phone may catch a foreign network. A Georgia eSIM stops at the border, and an Armenia eSIM only starts in Armenia. Until you switch lines, you may have no data. Get ready while you still have Wi-Fi:
- Download offline maps of the route and of Yerevan.
- Save your hotel address and your driver's number in your notes.
- Make sure the Armenia eSIM is already installed. Setting one up takes internet.
- Tell family you may be offline for a couple of hours.
When your phone shows an Armenian network, switch data to the Armenia line. If nothing appears, pick a network by hand in your cellular settings.
How much data for each country
Count the days in each country on their own. As a generous guide, 1 GB is about 5 hours of maps and taxis, or 1.5 hours of video calls.
- Up to 3 days of maps and messages: 1 GB per country.
- A week: 3 GB, or 5 GB with social apps and photos.
- Two weeks in one country: 10 GB.
If you run short, add data to the same eSIM.
Questions
Can one eSIM cover Georgia and Armenia?
Moosetrip sells a separate plan for each country. To use one line in both, use a US carrier pass, or a Magti SIM with a Roamer pack.
Does a Georgian SIM work in Armenia?
Yes, in roaming. Magti's Roamer gives 1,000 MB over 7 days for 9 lari, or 2,000 MB over 14 days for 15 lari. Turn on roaming with *133# and add the pack with *137# before you leave Georgia.
Does an Armenian SIM work in Georgia?
Team has a 1 GB pack for Georgia at 500 dram that lasts 3 days. It doesn't renew by itself. Viva's Tourist Unlim package doesn't cover roaming.
When does the Armenia plan start?
At the first connection in Armenia. Its days don't run while you are in Georgia.
Will I still get texts on my US number?
Yes, if your US line stays on as a second line. Keep data roaming off on that line, and your carrier's roaming terms apply to calls and texts.
