Incheon Airport SIM Card: Which Counter Is Open When You Land
Your flight lands at Incheon, you have no data, and you need a route to your hotel. Looking for an Incheon Airport SIM card is mostly a question of where to walk. The airport lists roaming centers for SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+ on the arrivals floor of both terminals, and all three have a 24-hour location in each one. So a late landing is less of a problem here than at many airports.
In short:
- All three carriers have 24-hour roaming centers on 1F in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. VisitKorea says airport roaming centers sell prepaid SIM cards.
- In T1, go to the west side near Arrival Hall F for the 24-hour counters. The east side closes at 10:00 p.m.
- You do not need a Korean number just to book a taxi. VisitKorea lists apps that work for visitors, and we explain them below.
- If your phone supports eSIM, you can set up data at home. Our South Korea plans start at $4 for 1 GB and 7 days (price on October 31, 2026).
Moosetrip sells eSIMs, so keep that in mind as you read. We have not tested these counters, apps, or networks. Everything below comes from the sources listed at the end. We did not get a current SIM price from any carrier, so we do not quote one.
Where to go after you land in Terminal 1
This comes from the airport's directory under Telecommunication / Internet, checked on October 31, 2026. The page shows no update date, so treat it as a starting point.
| Location on 1F | Listed | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Near Arrival Hall F, West Side | KT, LG U+, SK Telecom (all marked 24H) | Open 24 hours |
| Near Arrival Hall F, West Side | Wifi dosirak | 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
| Near Arrival Hall A, East Side | KT, LG U+, SK Telecom | 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
Terminal 1 has counters at both ends of the arrivals floor. If you land between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., head for the Arrival Hall F side.
Where to go after you land in Terminal 2
The Terminal 2 setup is different, because the carriers are not grouped in one spot.
| Location on 1F | Listed | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Near Exit 3 | Wifi dosirak | 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
| Near Exit 4 | KT, LG U+ (both marked 24H) | Open 24 hours |
| Near Exit 7 | SK Telecom (marked 24H) | Open 24 hours |
| Near Exit 7 | LG U+ | 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
If you already know which carrier you want, the exit number matters. SK Telecom's listing on this floor is near Exit 7, and KT's is near Exit 4.
If you need a SIM on the way out
The directory also lists counters on 3F, the departures level.
| Terminal | Location on 3F | Listed | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | Near Departure Hall 3, East Side | KT, LG U+ | 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
| T1 | Near Departure Hall 4, West Side | SK Telecom | 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
| T1 | Near Departure Hall 4, West Side | KT | 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. |
| T1 | Near Gate 27 | SK Telecom | 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. |
| T2 | Between Check-In Counter F-G | KT, LG U+, SK Telecom | 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
| T2 | Near Gate 251 | SK Telecom | 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. |
The counters near Gate 27 and Gate 251 are probably past security, since those are boarding gate numbers. The directory does not say so directly.
South Korea SIM card for tourists: what is sold and what to ask
VisitKorea, the national tourism site, says airport roaming centers sell prepaid USIM cards (plastic SIMs), hand over cards you ordered online, and rent Wi-Fi eggs and smartphones. It says a SIM can give you unlimited data or a local number, but it does not list plans. If you miss the counters, CU, GS25, 7-Eleven, and Emart24 also sell USIM cards, though stock varies by branch.
For fees, VisitKorea sends you to each carrier: SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+. We did not get a current price from those sites, and we do not repeat numbers from old blog posts. Before you pay, ask:
- What does it cost in total? Compare the full price with tax, the GB included, and the number of days.
- Is it a plastic SIM or an eSIM? A plastic SIM needs a physical tray. Check your phone here.
- Does it include a Korean number? Ask about calls and SMS as well as data.
- Do you need my passport? VisitKorea does not say for SIM cards. Wifi dosirak requires one at pickup, so keep yours in your hand, not in a checked bag.
- What happens to my US number? A plastic SIM may take the slot your US SIM uses. If you expect bank codes, read how to keep your US number abroad.
Pocket Wi-Fi at Incheon
You have two places to ask: the carriers' roaming centers, which VisitKorea says rent Wi-Fi eggs, and Wifi dosirak. Here is what Wifi dosirak's own rental page says. It shows no date, and its price table is an image we could not read, so check prices on the site.
- Network: LG U+ LTE, for up to 5 devices at once.
- Data: It recommends about 1 GB a day on average. The carrier may suspend a line for a while after very heavy use.
- Booking: At least 2 business days ahead. One notice on the page says 5, so book early.
- Pickup: Bring your voucher, the rental fee, and your passport.
- Return: Return it before departure procedures. After check-in, you must mail it by international courier at your cost, and rent runs until it arrives.
- Non-return: A 200,000 won deposit is charged if you do not return it and give no notice.
- Early return: No refund for unused days.
One conflict to know about. The airport lists Wifi dosirak from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while the company says Incheon T1 and T2 are open 24 hours, 365 days. If you land late or leave early, confirm before you rely on it.
A rental makes sense if several people want to share one connection, or if one of your phones cannot use an eSIM. It also gives you one more device to carry, charge, and return.
Do you need a Korean number for taxi and map apps?
For taxis, we would not buy a Korean SIM just for this. VisitKorea's ride-hailing page, updated in October 2025, lists options for visitors:
| App | Sign-up | Payment |
|---|---|---|
| Kakao T (KakaoTaxi) | Needs a Kakao account made through KakaoTalk. VisitKorea mentions a local mobile number and does not say if a foreign one works | Cash, card, or Tmoney to the driver, or auto-pay |
| k.ride | No KakaoTalk sign-up needed | Travelers can register their own credit card |
| TADA | Accepts an international mobile number | Credit card |
So try k.ride or TADA first. If you want Kakao T itself, start the sign-up at home on Wi-Fi and see what it asks for. Only pay for a Korean number if an app you plan to use requires it. Our eSIMs are data only, so they cannot solve that case. Keep a screenshot of your hotel address in Korean as a backup.
Maps are less settled. The Korea Times reported in March 2026 that Seoul conditionally approved Google's request to export high-precision map data, ending a 20-year block. The report said Google's map lacked detail on terrain and buildings, and it gave no launch date for changes. We could not confirm which Google Maps features work today, and we found no primary source on Naver Map. Check your route before you leave the terminal.
eSIM for South Korea: how ours compares
Our catalog lists two networks for South Korea: SKTelecom and LG Uplus. KT is not in that list.
| Airport counter | Moosetrip eSIM | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | At the airport, after you land | At home over Wi-Fi with a QR code |
| Days start | Ask the counter | At your first connection in South Korea |
| Korean number | Possible, ask which SIMs include one | None, data only |
| Your US number | Depends on your SIM setup | Stays on as a second line |
| Phone needs | Depends on what is sold | eSIM support, not locked to a carrier |
Here are our South Korea prices on October 31, 2026:
| Data | Days | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 | $4.00 |
| 3 GB | 30 | $7.50 |
| 5 GB | 30 | $10.50 |
| 10 GB | 30 | $17.00 |
| 20 GB | 30 | $28.00 |
As a generous rule of thumb, 1 GB is about 5 hours of maps and taxi apps, or 1.5 hours of video calls. For a fuller count, see how much data you need for travel.
An airport SIM or rental may fit you better if your phone has no eSIM support, if it is locked to your carrier, or if you need a Korean number. You may not need either one if your US plan already includes data in South Korea. Ask your carrier about the daily cost first. If an eSIM does fit, the plans are on our South Korea page.
Questions
Can I buy a SIM card at Incheon Airport at night?
Probably. The airport lists 24-hour roaming centers for all three carriers on 1F, and VisitKorea says airport roaming centers sell prepaid SIMs. Neither says the full range is sold overnight, so ask.
Do I need a passport for a SIM card in South Korea?
We could not confirm the rule for SIM cards. Carry your passport anyway. Wifi dosirak requires it at pickup.
How much is a SIM card at Incheon Airport?
We did not get a current price from a carrier. VisitKorea says fees are on each carrier's site. Compare the total price, GB, and days.
Is there free Wi-Fi when I land?
VisitKorea says free public Wi-Fi is available at most airports and at subway and train stations. Use it to save your route, but it will not follow you into a taxi.
