Da Nang Airport Taxi: Where to Go and What to Pay

A Da Nang airport taxi to the city center is a short, cheap ride. It is about 2.5 miles, and Grab's published rate works out to about 45,000 to 54,000 dong ($1.75 to $2.10) before fees. Hoi An is about 19 miles away. For that trip, book a fixed fare, about 325,000 to 350,000 dong ($12.60 to $13.55).

There is one catch. App rides pick you up in the parking area in front of the terminal, so you need mobile data to book, find the plate number, and message the driver. Airport Wi-Fi can show up on your phone and still not connect. The simple fix is to land with data already working.

Dollar amounts below use about 25,800 dong to $1, the rate on 2026-10-30. Grab fares were checked that day. Airport details, other fares, and distances were checked on 2026-10-17.

In short:

  • Grab and Xanh SM both post Da Nang rates. GrabCar starts at 27,000 dong ($1.05) for the first 2 km, and Xanh SM at 30,500 dong ($1.20).
  • Taxis wait on the second lane outside arrivals at Terminal 2. Look for the sign at Pillar 3.
  • For Hoi An, the fixed app fare beats the regular rate by about 48,000 to 81,000 dong ($1.85 to $3.15).
  • Daytime buses leave from Pillars 7 and 8 and cost 8,000 to 120,000 dong ($0.30 to $4.65).

Which ride apps work in Da Nang

Three services post fares for the city.

AppWhat it offers in Da Nang
GrabCars for 4 or 6, GrabBike, and a fixed fare to Hoi An
Xanh SMElectric taxis and a fixed airport package to Hoi An
BeLocal app with Da Nang rates for beCar and beBike

Xanh SM appears as Green SM on its own website. The airport lists it among its taxi companies, with the number 1900 2088.

GrabBike is a motorbike ride. It suits one person with a light bag, and Grab provides the helmet. If you plan to ride yourself, read our guide to motorbike rules for Americans first.

beCar, 4 seats29,188 ($1.13)14,090 ($0.55)

Extras can change the total. Grab adds a platform fee of 5,000 to 19,000 dong ($0.19 to $0.74) on car rides. It also lists a night surcharge but posts no amount. Xanh SM and Be add 20,000 dong ($0.78) at night, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Xanh SM says the price at booking leaves out surcharges, tolls, and airport fees, and can move with demand. Its first-2-km price can also run 10,000 dong lower or 24,400 dong higher.

Taxis from the stand use a meter. The airport's January 2025 brochure lists these rates for a 5-seat car:

  • First 5 km: 17,143 dong ($0.66) per km
  • Km 5 to 30: 11,143 dong ($0.43) per km
  • Past km 30: 13,143 dong ($0.51) per km

Tolls come on top, and rates vary by taxi company.

For a sense of scale, a 5 km ride across town comes to about 66,000 dong ($2.55) on GrabCar, 71,000 ($2.75) on Be, 76,000 ($2.95) on Xanh SM, and 86,000 ($3.35) on the meter. These are our estimates from the posted rates, for a trip of about 10 minutes.

Where to find your ride at Terminal 2

International flights use Terminal 2. Once you leave the restricted arrivals area, use the pillar numbers in the public hall:

  1. Taxi stand. Pillar 3 has a sign. Cars wait on the second lane, and airport staff can help call one.
  2. Fare table. The taxi price table hangs at Pillar 2. If your route is not on it, the airport says to ask staff.
  3. App rides. Signs from Pillar 3 lead to the parking area in front of the glass building. Grab uses Lane 1 and Lane 2.
  4. Buses. Lines 06, 12, and Hai Van stop at Pillars 7 and 8.

Pick the right terminal when you book. Check the plate and driver name against the app, as the airport advises. Grab drivers can wait at pickup for only 3 minutes, so start walking when you book.

Grab's airport rules for drivers say a 9,000 dong ($0.35) entry fee applies on 4 to 7 seat cars, and the driver collects it from you. Xanh SM also leaves airport fees out of its fare.

Connecting from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City? You land at Terminal 1. Since June 30, 2026, Grab has tested PIN pickup there. The app gives you four digits to read to the driver at the marked pickup points.

Trip times assume no traffic. App fares are our estimates from the posted rates, without fees. The last column comes from the airport's January 2025 brochure, which quotes one-way US dollar fares with airport fees included.

In dollars, the GrabCar column runs from about $1.75 to the city to about $15 to Hoi An. Grab's own airport page quotes 70,000 to 120,000 dong ($2.70 to $4.65) and 10 to 15 minutes for the downtown ride, which leaves room for fees and traffic.

Da Nang to Hoi An by taxi

Fixed fares cost less than the regular rate on this route:

  • GrabCar Da Nang to Hoi An: 279,818 dong ($10.85) for the first 25 km, then 10,309 dong ($0.40) per km. To the Old Town, that is about 325,000 to 337,000 dong ($12.60 to $13.05). A 6-seat car starts at 329,891 dong ($12.80).
  • Xanh SM Green Airport: 350,000 dong ($13.55) from the airport to Hoi An, up to 30 km. The return is 300,000 dong ($11.65). Extra km cost 12,000 dong ($0.47).
  • Airport taxi: $16.70 for 5 seats or $17.90 for 8 seats, per the January 2025 brochure.

Airport buses instead of a taxi

Buses make sense in daytime if you pack light.

02Central bus station to Hoi An35,000 ($1.36)5:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Expect a wait. DanaBus's chart shows 30 to 60 minutes between Line 06 buses and 25 to 40 minutes on Line 12. You pay in cash or by bank transfer from a phone, so carry small bills. Line 02 switched to electric buses on August 28, 2026, and runs every 15 to 30 minutes.

How to pay and avoid overpaying

Grab, Xanh SM, and Be all take cash, so keep some dong for your first ride. Grab lists a 4% charge on foreign-issued cards through its Moca payment option, so a US card can cost more than cash. Check your own card's foreign transaction fee too.

Three habits help:

  • At the stand, compare your price with the table at Pillar 2 and the fares above.
  • With Grab, stay in the app. Its driver rules ban soliciting riders and charging parking or other money on top of the fare and listed surcharges.
  • For Hoi An, always pick the fixed fare.

Get online before you land

Grab's pickup directions, plate number, and chat all need data. If you want a plastic SIM, the counters are in the restricted area near baggage claim, as our Da Nang SIM card guide explains. Once you walk out, your next chance is a shop in town.

An eSIM skips that step. You set it up at home over Wi-Fi with a QR code. Days start with your first connection in Vietnam, and your regular US number stays on as a second line. Your phone must support eSIM and be unlocked, so check your phone here. Install your ride apps and sign up at home too.

Network coverage looks fine at pickup. nPerf's map on October 17, 2026 showed 5G readings from Viettel and MobiFone there, from two years of user tests. That is not a promise of 5G on any plan.

On 2026-10-30, our Vietnam eSIM cost $4.50 for 1 GB over 7 days or $9.50 for 3 GB over 30 days, on Viettel, Vinaphone, and MobiFone. One GB covers about 5 hours of maps and ride apps. If your US plan already includes Vietnam at a price you accept, you do not need one.
