Bangkok Airport to Pattaya: Taxi, Grab, Bolt, and Bus

You clear immigration at Suvarnabhumi after a long flight, and Pattaya is still about 75 miles away. A driver may offer a flat price, and the meter can give you a different number. It helps to know what the ride should cost before you get in.

Here is the direct answer. A meter taxi from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya comes to about 1,255 to 1,325 baht ($37 to $39) with the airport fee and the highway toll. Bolt's estimate starts lower, at about 917 baht ($27) for Economy. The Roong Reuang Coach bus costs 135 baht ($4) and takes about 2 hours.

Dollar amounts use 33.73 baht to $1, the reference rate on 2026-10-30. Each source and its check date is at the end. We have not ridden these routes ourselves.

In short:

  • A meter taxi runs about 1,255 to 1,325 baht to Pattaya, with the 50 baht airport fee and a 105 baht toll, in clear traffic.

How the Suvarnabhumi taxi fare works

The Public Taxi counter and ticket machines are on Floor 1 of the terminal, between Gates 4 and 7. They run 24 hours. Your meter follows Bangkok's taxi tariff, in force since January 13, 2023.

Part of the tripRate
First km35 baht ($1.04), 40 baht in a large taxi
1 to 10 km6.50 baht per km
10 to 20 km7 baht per km
20 to 40 km8 baht per km
40 to 60 km8.50 baht per km
60 to 80 km9 baht per km
Over 80 km10.50 baht per km
Under 6 km per hour3 baht per minute

You also pay some extras:

  • Airport fee: 50 baht ($1.48), added to the meter.
  • Tolls: the airport says passengers pay them. Motorway 7 costs 105 baht ($3.11) for a car from Lat Krabang to Pattaya.
  • Big bags: up to 20 baht ($0.59) for a case over 26 inches, on 2026-10-16.

The airport's page also says that on longer trips the price can be agreed between passenger and driver. So before you sit down, ask two things. Are we on the meter, or at a set price? Does that price include the 50 baht fee and the toll?

What the ride costs by neighborhood

Here is our math from the tariff above. Road distances come from OSRM on OpenStreetMap data, measured from the main terminal, without traffic. Heavy traffic adds to the meter at 3 baht a minute.

If a driver quotes a set price well above these numbers, you know where you stand. You can decline, or check the app first.

Grab and Bolt from the airport

Grab. Grab lists Pattaya, Chonburi, and Rayong among the places GrabCar and JustGrab work. JustGrab sends the closest car or taxi. Trips to another province are priced by distance, and you see the fare before you book. Tolls and surcharges are extra. You can book up to 90 days ahead, and no later than 75 minutes before pickup.

Suvarnabhumi puts the Grab point on Floor 1 at Gate 4, open 24 hours, as of 2026-10-16. Grab takes cash, credit and debit cards, and GrabPay. Pick one when you book.

Bolt. On 2026-10-16, Bolt did not list Pattaya among its 13 Thai cities, but it does publish routes and prices for Pattaya. Its estimates from Suvarnabhumi to Terminal 21 Pattaya are for a trip of 113.8 km, about 71 miles. The page does not say whether tolls are in those numbers, so plan on paying them yourself.

The bus to Pattaya

Roong Reuang Coach leaves from Floor 1 at Gate 8, near arrivals. The fare is 135 baht per seat to the North Pattaya bus station. Departures are at 7:30, 9:30, and 11:30 a.m., then 1:30, 3:30, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m. Get there at least 15 minutes early.

There is also a Jomtien bus, at 158 baht ($4.68), hourly from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. as of 2026-10-16. From either station, a local ride finishes the trip.

If you land at Don Mueang or U-Tapao

Don Mueang. Taxi counters are at Terminal 1, Gate 8, and Terminal 2, Gate 15, open 24 hours. The same meter, the 50 baht fee, and passenger-paid tolls apply. It is a longer drive, about 94 miles to Central Festival. The meter comes to about 1,420 baht, or 1,470 baht ($44) with the fee, plus tolls. Grab's counter is at Terminal 2, Gate 14, from 6 a.m. to midnight. A TCL bus to Pattaya costs 155 baht ($4.60).

U-Tapao. This one is far closer. Jomtien is about 22 miles away, Walking Street 25, and Central Festival 26, which is 38 to 44 minutes without traffic. Loma Pattaya Taxi works from a stand in front of Terminal 1, 24 hours a day, so ask the price before you get in. A Suvarnabhumi Burapha minibus runs to Big C South Pattaya for 150 baht ($4.45), with departures at 12:30, 2:00, and 5:00 p.m. Bolt does not list U-Tapao among its airports.

Getting around Pattaya

Bolt publishes estimates for short city rides, from pages dated January 2026.

RouteDistanceMotorbikeTaxiEconomy
Walking Street to Central Pattaya Beach1.7 miles31 baht ($0.92)50 baht ($1.48)81 baht ($2.40)
Terminal 21 to Central Pattaya Beach2.2 miles38 baht ($1.13)57 baht ($1.69)87 baht ($2.58)
Terminal 21 to Walking Street3.2 miles51 baht ($1.51)72 baht ($2.13)99 baht ($2.93)

Bolt's app shows the final price before you book. The motorbike is for one rider, and it costs about half as much as Economy. GrabBike is a different story. On 2026-10-16, Grab's page limited it to Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan, so do not count on it in Pattaya.

Songthaews are the blue pickup trucks that run shared routes. Agree on the fare with the driver before you ride, ask if it is per person or for the whole truck, and carry small bills.

Paying and data

Bring baht either way. Grab takes cash, so you can fall back on it if your US card does not go through. Bolt's main payment is a card in the app, and it says cash is not offered in every city. Check that before your trip.

Grab and Bolt both need data at the terminal exit. Without it, you still have the taxi counter and the bus, but you lose the price check that helps you judge a set price.

An eSIM takes care of that. Install it at home on Wi-Fi with a QR code, and your days start with your first connection in Thailand. Your US number stays on as a second line, and you can add more data to the same eSIM. Your phone must support eSIM and be unlocked, which you can check here. Download your ride apps at home, too.

Our Thailand eSIM uses AIS, DTAC, and TrueMove H. Plan on 1 GB for about 5 hours of maps and taxi apps, or about 1.5 hours of video calls. See all plans on the Thailand page. Prices were checked on 2026-10-30.

If your US plan already includes data in Thailand, you may not need one. A local tourist SIM can also be a better deal if you stream a lot. Our Pattaya SIM card guide covers the airport counters and prices.
