Batumi SIM Card: Where to Buy One and Where the Signal Works
You land in Batumi late, the beach is close, and you still need a ride and your rental address. A Batumi SIM card is easy to get in the daytime. At night it is harder. The Silknet counter at the airport closes at 8 p.m., Cellfie sets its hours around arrivals, and Magti has no airport counter here at all. If your flight comes in late, install a data eSIM at home. If your US plan already covers Georgia at no extra cost, you may not need either.
In short:
- Airport: Silknet is open daily, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Cellfie follows arrival times, on October 2, 2026. Magti has no point there.
- City: two Magti shops sit about 200 m from Europe Square and open every day. Three malls and towers keep shops open until 10 p.m.
- Signal: phones on both boulevards show 5G on Magti and Silknet. Mtirala and the Botanical Garden are weaker.
- The Moosetrip Georgia eSIM has 3 GB for 30 days at $10 and 5 GB for 30 days at $14, on October 30, 2026.
Moosetrip sells eSIMs, so keep that in mind as you read. We have not tested these networks ourselves. Shop details come from operator sites, and signal details come from public maps.
Your options compared
| Option | What you need | When it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| US carrier daily pass | Nothing to set up | Right after landing | A day or two, lots of calls |
| SIM at the airport | Passport, unlocked phone, SIM tray | While a counter is open | A daytime arrival |
| SIM in the city | Passport, unlocked phone, SIM tray | Shop hours | Long stays, a local number |
| Moosetrip eSIM | Unlocked phone with eSIM support | Right after landing | Late arrivals, trips up to 30 days |
Verizon lists TravelPass at $12 a day in most countries, and AT&T lists International Day Pass at $12 a day for one line. Ten days on one line comes to $120, while our 5 GB plan is $14. That is not a perfect match, because those passes include calls and texts and our eSIM is data only. Confirm that Georgia is covered and the rate in your carrier app before you fly. Our TravelPass breakdown has the math.
SIM cards at Batumi Airport
Times below come from each operator's list of locations.
| Operator | At the airport | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Silknet | Dealer point, mobile services only | Daily, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Cellfie | Cellfie shop | Depends on arrival times |
| Magti | No point at this airport | None |
Silknet and Cellfie hours are from October 2, 2026. The Magti list was checked again on October 30, 2026. Its airport points are only in Tbilisi and Kutaisi, both with limited services.
The tourist info desk at the airport also closes at 8 p.m., according to the official Adjara guide. The airport says Wi-Fi is free across the terminal, which is a nice bonus. Do not make it your only plan. A network can show up on your list and still refuse to connect, and that is a bad moment to find out, with the counters closed.
Cell signal at the terminal looks stronger than you might expect. On nPerf's maps, Magti and Silknet show 5G there, and Cellfie shows 4G+.
If you miss the counters, the closest late shops are in town: Cellfie in Grand Mall is about 3.2 km from the terminal in a straight line, and Silknet in Black Sea Mall is about 3.5 km.
Magti's tourist deal is not sold here
Magti's page offers a free SIM with a Welcome Package at Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports. It gives 3,000 MB of data, 30 international minutes, and free local calls and texts for 15 days at 30 lari (about $11.60). A second offer has 5,000 MB for 15 days at 15 lari (about $5.80). If you fly in through Tbilisi or Kutaisi, pick one up there. Dollar prices use 2.59 lari to $1, the market rate on October 30, 2026.
Where to buy a SIM in Batumi
The list runs from the Old Town southwest to the New Boulevard. Hours come from operator sites on October 2, 2026, and distances are straight lines. Bring your passport, and make sure your phone is unlocked, or a SIM from another network will not work.

In the evening, after 7 p.m., you have three choices: Cellfie in Grand Mall, Cellfie in Orbi Sky Tower, and Silknet in Black Sea Mall.
Where the signal works around Batumi
These results come from nPerf's maps of real phone tests over the past two years, read on October 2, 2026. A network missing from a row can still work there, because nPerf shows only what phones have reported.
| Place | Best signal seen by phones |
|---|---|
| Europe Square and the Piazza | Magti 5G, Silknet 5G, Cellfie 4G+ and 5G |
| Old Boulevard, 2.6 km from the Alphabet Tower | Magti 5G, Silknet 5G and 4G+, Cellfie 4G+ |
| New Boulevard, 2.8 km to Kaczynski Park | Magti 5G, Silknet 5G and 4G+, Cellfie 4G+ |
| Airport terminal | Magti 5G, Silknet 5G, Cellfie 4G+ |
| Argo cable car, lower station | 5G on all three |
| Botanical Garden | Cellfie 4G+ and 5G, Silknet 3G |
| Makhinjauri | Magti 4G+, 5G at the station, Silknet 5G at the station |
| Chakvi | Silknet 5G |
| Gonio Fortress | Silknet 5G, Magti 4G |
| Coast from Gonio to Kvariati | Magti 4G, Silknet 4G with some 5G |
| Makhuntseti village | Cellfie 4G+, Magti 4G+ within 500 m |
| Mtirala visitor center | Magti 4G, 200 to 500 m from the building |
The boulevards. Almost every point along both boulevards shows 5G on Magti and 5G or 4G+ on Silknet. Magti's own 5G map has gaps right at the water, but its grid cells are large, about 420 by 570 m, so phone tests are a better guide for the beach.
Gonio and Kvariati. The network is more modest south of the city, and most results are 4G. That still handles maps and rides.
Argo and the Botanical Garden. Phone tests along the cable car stop about halfway up. Save your route and your rental address before you board. In the garden, Silknet phones found only 3G, while Cellfie reached 4G+ and 5G.
Makhuntseti and Mtirala. Download an offline map while you are in Batumi. Near the Mtirala visitor center, phones found only Magti, on 4G, a few hundred meters from the building.
Magti's map shows 5G over the center, the airport, Gonio, Kvariati, and Makhinjauri, in a layer dated June 2025.
Wi-Fi, data, and setting up an eSIM
The official Adjara guide says free public Wi-Fi is available on Batumi Boulevard and in restaurants and cafes. It is handy for a coffee stop. For a walk on the beach, a ride, or a day in the hills, you will want mobile data.
1 GB is about 5 hours of maps and rides, or about 1.5 hours of video calls. A week at the sea with maps, messages, and a few calls home fits in 5 GB, which is about 25 hours of maps or 7.5 hours of video.
Moosetrip's Georgia plans on October 30, 2026:
| Data | Days | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 | $4.50 |
| 3 GB | 30 | $10 |
| 5 GB | 30 | $14 |
| 10 GB | 30 | $26 |
| 20 GB | 30 | $47.50 |
The eSIM installs at home over Wi-Fi from a QR code. Days start at your first connection in Georgia, so you can set it up well before your flight. Your regular number stays on as a second line, and you can add data to the same eSIM. The phone must support eSIM and be unlocked, and you can check your phone here. Our catalog lists Magti, Beeline, and Geocell for Georgia. Beeline and Geocell are older names for the networks now called Cellfie and Silknet. Plan on 4G with this eSIM, which is plenty for maps, rides, and video calls.
A day trip to Turkey
Batumi is close to the Turkish border, and a day trip is tempting. Our Georgia plan works in Georgia only, so it will not connect in Turkey. If you have a local SIM, ask its operator about roaming first. Our Turkey page has a 1 GB plan for 7 days at $3.50, on October 30, 2026. You can install it at home next to the Georgia eSIM, and its days start at your first connection in Turkey. Crossing into Armenia instead? Our Armenia guide covers shops and plans there.
Questions
Can I buy a SIM at Batumi Airport at night?

No. Magti's airport points are in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. Its closest Batumi shops are at 10 Rustaveli St and 5 I. Abashidze St, and both open every day.
Where can I buy a SIM in Batumi on Sunday?
Try either Magti shop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a Cellfie shop on the list, or Silknet in Black Sea Mall. Grand Mall, Orbi Sky Tower, and Black Sea Mall stay open the latest.
Does the internet work on Batumi beach?
Yes. Phone tests on both boulevards show 5G on Magti almost everywhere, with 5G and 4G+ on Silknet. Near Gonio and Kvariati, most results are 4G.
Do I need a passport for a SIM in Batumi?
Bring your passport to any shop. You do not need one for a travel eSIM installed at home.
