Bodrum Airport Taxi: Uber, Meter Start, and When the Bus Works

The easiest way to get a Bodrum airport taxi is the rank outside your terminal or the Uber app, which shows a price range before you book. Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) is about 36 km by road from central Bodrum, so this is not a short ride. The meter starts at 150 lira ($3), and a shuttle bus into town costs 270 lira ($5.40) if your flight is domestic.

That last part catches international arrivals. The airport buses meet domestic flights, so a direct flight from Europe can leave you with a taxi as your only easy choice. To see a fare before you commit, you need mobile data at the curb. Airport Wi-Fi lasts 1 hour and asks for an SMS code or a kiosk password, and it can show in your list without connecting.

Fares below are as of October 30, 2026. Dollar amounts use about 49.9 lira to $1, the rate that day.

In short:

  • Uber takes requests 24/7 in Bodrum and sends local licensed taxis. Up to 4 people ride, and you see a price range first.
  • The meter starts at 150 lira ($3). The shortest ride costs 250 lira ($5). Plan on well over 1,000 lira ($20) from the airport.
  • Havaş and MUTTAŞ buses cost 270 lira to the central bus station, and both meet domestic flights.
  • Dolmuş minibuses cover the peninsula for 42 to 89 lira ($0.84 to $1.78).

Uber in Bodrum

Uber has its own Bodrum taxi page. It says rides are with a licensed taxi driver in a legally registered car, and that you can request one 24/7. You see a low and a high price before you confirm. Uber's page for Muğla province warns that wait times here can run longer than in big cities, and that you can reserve a ride ahead.

At the airport, follow the app to the meeting point, and match the plate to the app before you get in.

You can pay with a card in the app or with cash. Add your card at home, and check whether it charges a foreign transaction fee. Tips go in the app or to the driver in cash.

Taxi fares in Bodrum

Muğla's metropolitan council sets taxi fares for the whole province. Local paper Muğla Gazetesi reported on May 20, 2026 that the council raised fares 25% in February.

Fare itemBeforeFrom the 2026 season
Meter start120 lira ($2.40)150 lira ($3)
Shortest ride200 lira ($4)250 lira ($5)

About 750 Bodrum taxis had their meters reset for this tariff. The same paper said rides out on the peninsula to places like Turgutreis, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük, Türkbükü or Gündoğan cost over 1,000 lira ($20), and around 1,300 lira ($26) on some routes.

The airport is farther from town than those rides, so plan on well over 1,000 lira ($20) from the terminal. Uber will show the range for your exact address.

The taxi rank at Milas-Bodrum Airport

The airport says taxis work 24/7 from areas set aside at both the international and the domestic terminal, in both arrivals and departures. Its site gives a taxi desk number: +90 252 523 00 24, extension 1678.

Our eSIM is data only, so it cannot make that call. Your US line can, at your carrier's rates. You will rarely need to, since cars wait at the rank.

The airport posts no fixed fares to the resorts. These road distances come from OpenStreetMap, measured from the international terminal. Add 0.2 to 0.3 km from the domestic one. Times assume no traffic.

DestinationRoad distanceTime
Torba32.2 km31 min

Bitez41.4 km36 min
Gündoğan48.2 km46 min
Yalıkavak52.8 km48 min

If you can, enter your hotel in Uber before you walk to the rank. Even if you end up at the rank, you will know what a fair price looks like.

Airport buses: Havaş and MUTTAŞ

Two buses link the airport to the central bus station. Both cost 270 lira ($5.40) and run through Güvercinlik and the new bus station near Torba.

Havaş. The ride takes about 45 minutes. From the airport, Havaş times buses to domestic arrivals. To the airport, the schedule follows departures, and it changes day to day. Check the Havaş site for your date.

MUTTAŞ line 48-24. This is the Muğla city bus. The fare has applied since May 18, 2026, and it is 220 lira ($4.40) to Güvercinlik. Buses meet domestic flights and leave town 2 hours before domestic departures. There is no advance booking. Credit cards are accepted on every bus.

Here is the catch for visitors. MUTTAŞ does not stop at the international terminal, and neither operator promises a bus for an international arrival. If you land on an international flight, take a taxi.

Connecting through Istanbul makes this easier. Your Bodrum leg is a domestic flight, so the bus should be waiting at the domestic terminal.

Dolmuş minibuses around the peninsula

Dolmuş minibuses and MUTTAŞ buses share one fare table, published in May 2026. Fares depend on distance.

LineToLine lengthLongest fare
2-20Torba10 km42 lira ($0.84)
2-52Gümbet13 km56 lira ($1.12)
2-48Bitez12 km68 lira ($1.36)
2-47Gündoğan23 km80 lira ($1.60)
2-41Yalıkavak23 km89 lira ($1.78)
2-34Turgutreis21 km89 lira ($1.78)

The Gümbet, Bitez, Yalıkavak and Turgutreis lines start at the new bus station near Torba and run through the center. The longest fare counts from there. Going back to the old central station costs less: 56 lira from Bitez, and 80 lira from Yalıkavak or Turgutreis.

Those fares are for the Muğla Kart. You can get one at the Bodrum bus station at Cevat Şakir Caddesi 43, and top it up at 26 places around town. The fare table says nothing about cash, so get the card on day one.

How to avoid overpaying

Before the cab moves, check:

  • The meter is on and starts at 150 lira.
  • The price in Uber for the same address, so you know the likely range.
  • The route on your phone map.

The minimum for a short ride is 250 lira ($5). That is the rule, not a scam.

If something goes wrong, note the plate, the time and the route right after the ride. For Uber, file a complaint under Help in the app. For MUTTAŞ buses, call 444 48 01. The Bodrum municipality takes general complaints on 444 00 48 and through the Dilek-Şikayet form on its site.

Get your phone ready before you fly

Without mobile data at the terminal, you lose the Uber price check, a live map, and translation for your hotel address.

Crowd-sourced nPerf maps from October 17, 2026 showed Vodafone 4G and 4G+ at the international terminal, and 4G+ or better in Bodrum center, Gümbet, Bitez, Torba, Turgutreis, Yalıkavak and Gündoğan.

A travel eSIM installs at home over Wi-Fi with a QR code. Days count from your first connection in Turkey. Our Turkey eSIM uses Vodafone and Türk Telekom, your US number stays on as a second line, and you can add data to the same eSIM. Our guide to keeping your US number abroad explains how to still get bank texts.

If your US plan already includes data in Turkey at a price you like, skip the eSIM.

Our cautious rule is that 1 GB covers about 5 hours of maps and taxi apps. Turkey plans on 2026-10-30 start at 1 GB for 7 days at $3.50, and 3 GB for 30 days costs $7. See them all on the Turkey page, and check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked. Comparing options for the whole trip? Read our Turkey eSIM guide.
